Safety tips for Toddler Beds
by Linda WatsonSafety Tips for Toddler Beds
When your child is ready to make his/her transition from crib to Toddler Bed there are a few precautions that should be taken.....
Be sure when choosing your child's bed it is low to the floor just in case your child should fall out. Most toddler beds come with headboard and footboard with guardrails on both sides. If the bed you are considering doesn't already come with guardrails be sure to choose a bed that guardrails can be easily attached. Another good precaution would be to place a rug, pad, or pillow along the side of the bed to prevent injury just in case of an accidental fall.
When arranging your toddlers new room be sure to place the headboard against the wall and not the side. This will prevent your child from getting trapped between the bed and the wall. It is also a good idea to be sure not to place the bed near windows, heating units, wall lamps, drapery or blind cords.
Most kids love their new beds and want to jump and play on them. You will want to be sure to periodically check joints on wooden beds and screws on metal framed beds to make sure they are kept tight to keep your toddler safe and secure.
